Job Description

ANTI-HUMAN TRAFFICKING PROGRAM COORDINATOR | ID: 110

London, ON

Okaadenige

Full-Time Permanent

Atlohsa Family Healing Services is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to fill the critical role of Program Coordinator for the Okaadenige Anti-Human Trafficking program. As the Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing program service delivery that supports Indigenous peoples who have survived, are involved or at risk of being involved in any form of human trafficking, sexual abuse, and exploitation.

Role and Responsibility

Using a wholistic Indigenous-led approach to the principles of harm reduction and trauma-informed care, you will be responsible for designing and implementing culturally-appropriate programs that promote community well-being. With a deep understanding of colonization and the historical state-sanctioned violence against Indigenous peoples in Canada, you will create program supports and plans of care for individuals who may be experiencing mental health imbalances, social stigma, homelessness, trauma, and substance use. You will also comprehend how historical and ongoing forms of colonization contribute to higher rates of human trafficking, sexual abuse, and exploitation among Indigenous peoples.

As a qualified candidate, you must be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

Suitability

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the languages, traditional ways, history, and cultures of the Indigenous population in the London region
  • Strong analysis of colonialism and the ways in which historical and ongoing colonization impacts Indigenous peoples intergenerationally
  • Knowledge of human trafficking and sexual exploitation of Indigenous peoples in Canada
  • Understanding of Indigenous homelessness and Indigenous harm reduction
  • Facilitation and creation of community workshops, education, presentations, and consultation (which may include local First Nations and the non-Indigenous community)
  • Demonstrated strengths in leadership, interpersonal relations, problem-solving, crisis intervention, group dynamics, community development, and other innovative approaches
  • Flexibility for local travel and possibly outside of London, Ontario
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Social and Social Service Workers
  • Current Vulnerable Sector check
  • Having a vehicle is an asset
