Position: Community Aboriginal Recreation Activator (CARA)
Term: 2-year contract, based on funding
Department: Community Centre
Salary: $18.00/hour
Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m., Monday – Friday, flexible to work some evenings and weekends based on programming

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and/or designate, the primary responsibilities for the CARA are to create a recreation plan; to facilitate and implement recreation programming and to enhance the capacity of the community to meet its sport and recreation needs for all age groups.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ontario Secondary School diploma or GED;
- Post-secondary diploma, ongoing or complete in Recreation and Leisure or related field of study; OR
- Minimum two (2) years employment experience in a similar capacity;
- Experience monitoring and reviewing program budgets;
- Workshop and/or facilitation experience, experience working with children and youth in leadership capacity, community development experience; an asset.
REQUIREMENTS:
- The successful candidate must submit a recent (within 6-months) Vulnerable Sector CPIC, at own expense, prior to starting employment;
- The successful candidate must submit a copy of applicable educational qualifications (certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.) OR letter from educational institution for ongoing studies, prior to starting employment.
