Program Coordinator for Housing Support & OutReach Services

Atlohsa Family Healing Services is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Program Coordinator for Housing Support & Outreach Program. The primary role of the Coordinator is to provide program leadership in all aspects of program delivery, including daily operations and strategic program planning. This position will support crisis intervention, safety planning, and wellness supports to individuals who have experienced mental health imbalance, trauma, homelessness, violence, and/or human trafficking.

Role and Responsibility

Using a wholistic Indigenous-led approach to principles of Harm Reduction and trauma-informed care, the Coordinator will be responsible for creating and implementing program service delivery which aims to support Indigenous peoples’ healing from the effects of intergenerational trauma. Understanding colonization and historical state sanctioned violence against Indigenous peoples in Canada, the Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Housing support and Housing OutReach programs. They will be comfortable creating and implementing short and long-term operational plans and reporting. The Coordinator will liaison with community partners and will have strong advocacy skills to secure housing for indigenous peoples within the city of London. The Coordinator provides staff supervision and maintains staffing schedules. The Coordinator must have excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work with individuals who may present challenging behaviours/ and or substance use. The Coordinator will also participate in agency wide programming and wholistic supports, including agency wide case management to best support families accessing Atlohsa Family Healing Services.

Suitability

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the languages, traditional ways, history and cultures of the Indigenous population in the London region
  • Strong analysis of colonialism and the ways in which historical and ongoing colonization impacts Indigenous peoples intergenerational
  • Understanding of Indigenous homelessness and housing first principles.
  • Ability to work from a Indigenous harm reduction and trauma informed lens.
  • University degree or equivalent work or community experience in Social Work, social sciences, humanities and/or other related field
  • Leadership experience and demonstrated ability to provide training support and supervision.
  • Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal relations, problem-solving, crisis intervention, group dynamics, community development and other innovative approaches.
  • Understanding of cultural safety and an awareness of its impact on practice
  • Skills in conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation (to build trust and resolve disagreements)
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills and the ability to prioritize multiple competing workload demands in fast paced environment
  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with others in a respectful manner as defined in the Atlohsa Code of Conduct
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License, First Aid and CPR certificate and Current Vulnerable Sector Check
