Organization Description
Thunderbird Partnership Foundation is a national non-profit organization serving First Nations in mental wellness. Our mandate is set by three frameworks:
- Honouring Our Strengths: A Renewed Framework to Address Substance Use Issues Among First Nations in Canada
- Indigenous Wellness Framework
- First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum
Our core stakeholders are First Nations communities and the network of First Nations adult and youth treatment centres. To support the mandate, Thunderbird has two office locations, one based in a First Nations community in southwestern Ontario, and the other in the city of London, Ontario. This position is based out of the Delaware Nation office, near the village of Bothwell.
Your opportunity
As the Thunderbird Partnership Foundation Curriculum Developer, you will
- Develop online training programs and course curriculum driven by Indigenous pedagogies.
- Assess and review existing online training programs and courses by conducting a needs analysis using sound design principles.
- Maintain and update instructional material on an ongoing basis.
- Develop and design online instructional material including structure, content, and objectives of courses across various products and delivery channels.
- Design e-courses that meet the needs of the adult learner, writing and editing content ensuring readiness and usability.
- Define appropriate assessment performance criteria and standards for existing and new courses to effectively measure learning attainment of course objectives.
- Support the digital community of practice for a variety of training programs.
- Identify resources and materials that will support instructional practices and integrate them into online training programs.
- Integrate technology to the curriculum in thoughtful and captivating ways.
- Develop measurement strategies that are engaging.
- Integrate instructors’ and learners’ feedback in online course design, content and its efficiency in meeting learning objectives and building competencies.
- Analyze training course evaluations and reports to determine trends and respond with follow up training, redesign of course material, and/or information where required.
- Engage with First Nations Community partners/stakeholders to promote the Thunderbird Partnership Foundation online training and education courses and programs.
- Evaluate and advise on appropriate technology that meets the Thunderbird and stakeholders training requirements.
- Monitor course content for accuracy and ensure that online platforms are following confidentiality policies and privacy regulations.
- Monitor and report evaluation findings to the online Training and Education Manager and recommend changes to enhance the training programs, online platforms, and online training delivery as appropriate.

You bring
- A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field, AND Certification Developer eligibility, AND 2 years’ experience in curriculum design, assessment, and development.
- Fluency in a First Nations language is a definite asset.
- Knowledge and experience in one or more digital learning and authoring tools e.g., Articulate Suite (Studio and Storyline), Camtasia, Captivate and Learning Management Systems (UltiPro would be ideal).
- Understanding of principles and trends regarding the development of curriculum.
- Sound understanding of curriculum development and instructional design within an outcomes-based framework.
- Skills in researching and evaluating standards in online learning, web-based platforms, and curriculum development.
- Effective research and design skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Knowledge of protocols and ethical practices relating to working with First Nations.
- Cultural competence and ability to interact effectively within Frist Nation communities/societies.
- Knowledge of various methods of teaching and instruction.
- Excellent writing and public speaking skills, outstanding organizational and planning abilities.
- Above average knowledge regarding technical writing and knowledge of various needs assessment and research methods.
- High proficiency in both technical and creative spaces.
- The ability to solve problems independently and manage multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship building and conflict resolution skills.
- The ability to work well within a team and a highly collaborative environment.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and manage competing work demands.
- High level of professionalism and ability to always maintain confidentiality.
- Creative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
- Able to access worksites not accessible by public transportation.
