Note: This is a full-time Administrative position (37.5 hours per week).

Duties: The Director, International Recruitment and Market Development, works across the world and the College to accelerate diverse international student enrolment establishing Fanshawe as the College of choice for international students. The Director, International Recruitment and Market Development leads the identification, development and implementation of strategies to achieve College goals of increased international enrolment in a diverse set of global markets. Reporting to the Dean, International, the Director provides direction to the team responsible for marketing, communication and recruitment strategies for international markets and partnerships including in the Greater Toronto Area.

The Director institutionalizes the ability to identify needs, trends, opportunities and solutions to meet International enrolment revenue targets. This position directs the research and identification of new markets for growth based on return on investment, ongoing evaluation of current market productivity and performance and recommends future-forward opportunities to senior leaders on academic programming based on global labour market needs.

The Director leads a diverse team of internationally and locally based regional managers, in-country representatives, digital representatives, admission staff and agents, in addition to internal Fanshawe College employees that support International recruitment goals. The position requires regular international travel to promote Fanshawe College to a wide variety of influencers in the international marketplace. The Director oversees the development and dissemination of promotional materials in various medium and social media channels to ensure an effective and competitive presence for international students and corporate clients.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary 4-year degree with a specialization in Marketing, International Marketing or International Trade
  • Business Management with an international designation preferred
  • Minimum 9 years’ management experience, working in an international context, in recruitment/partnership/business development, including at least one year of overseas work experience; with proven ability to plan and achieve business goals
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
  • Knowledge of the education sector in target markets including providers, academic issues, market trends, regulatory environment and networks of contacts
  • Experience with academic and business strategies of international education particularly in key markets is required
  • Experience in the planning, development and management of international education or training projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (both oral and written) and in at least one additional language, relevant to the target regions
  • Familiar with the use of communication and information technologies for administrative and marketing purposes
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and the capacity to work effectively under pressure while traveling abroad for extended periods of time
  • Experience managing staff in a unionized environment and the ability to work in a diverse work environment
  • Excellent human relations skills, judgment, cross-cultural awareness with above average knowledge of international needs for post-secondary education, customer service/relationship management skills, conflict resolution skills, contract negotiation skills, research skills, budget management and project management skills
  • Presentation skills both oral and written
  • Demonstrated listening skills as most communication is done through translators, interpreters or with second language speakers
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, Robinson and Robinson, along with the ability to manage a large volume of email daily
