ÉENDA NOOCHIIKIING CHILD CARE SUPERVISOR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

ÉENDA NOOCHIIKIING Child Care Supervisor plans and directs the program of the child care center, is accountable for the children, supervises staff and is responsible for license compliance. The ENCC Supervisor has responsibility for the daily operations of the center, including, but not limited to enrolment, staffing, training and development, employee relations, parent relations, health and safety, and electronic data management. ENCC Supervisor monitors and coordinates the provision of nurturing, inclusive care and developmentally appropriate education to meet the needs of the children in a group setting with a safe and healthy environment. Follows requirements of all provincial and federal regulations, follows policies and procedures identified in the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA); and follows the policies and procedures of the Munsee-Delaware Nation and ÉENDA NOOCHIIKIING.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To perform duties in accordance with the program statement and core values of ÉENDA NOOCHIIKIING Child Care Center and the mandate of Munsee-Delaware Nation.
  2. To provide high quality, inclusive, child care that meets diverse needs and promotes optimum physical, social emotional, cognitive and intellectual development of the children attending the child care program.
  3. To assume a leadership and supervisory role as directed by Nation Manager of Munsee-Delaware Nation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Early Childhood Education diploma or degree from a recognized College or University.
  1. Must be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators and in good standing.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of working in a licensed child care center.
  3. Willing to speak/learn Lunaape language.
  4. Must provide a current (within 6 months) Negative Vulnerable Sector Check.
  5. Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate.
  6. Strong leadership skills with proven interpersonal teamwork and communication skills.
  7. Ability to coach others, considers team composition, provides feedback on performances, and sets goals and objectives.
  8. Decision making – sound decision making by identifying, assessing understanding, acting on and community risk issues.
  9. Strong communication skills, ability to communicate complex issues
  10. A safe food handling certificate would be considered an asset.
  11. B, E, or F driver’s license would be considered an asset.
  12. Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Job requires frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.; bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  13. Ability to work independently and closely with other educators and caregivers.
