Location: London, ON
Position Summary:
The Employment Specialist, reporting to the Director of Employment Services, will assist unemployed individuals in identifying career options, overcoming employment barriers, and finding job opportunities. They will provide coaching, program information, referrals, assessments, and job search support. The candidate will also help employers recruit workers, offer training incentives, and conduct on-site monitoring. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic, adaptable to various team settings, and capable of building community connections with local partners.

Job Requirements
• University degree or post-secondary diploma in business, marketing, or human resources or significant business/industry experience offering similar skill sets
• 3-5 years experience in a similar role with demonstrated success
• Bilingualism is an asset
• Connections to area employers
• Experience facilitating large and small groups
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Collaborates well in a team environment
• Self-motivated and able to manage tasks and outreach independently
• Good understanding of job search strategies, London labour market information, resume creation and networking
• Ability to effectively interview clients and employers to identify and determine needs, interests, and potential workplace opportunities
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations in a multicultural environment, and establish rapport with clients facing multiple employment barriers
• Driver’s License is required
This is what you will do.
• Network, interact and liaise with local employers to market PEHC’s services, offerings and clientele and to elicit employment opportunities for PEHC’s clients
• Work individually with clients to assess, and identify barriers and opportunities, and assist them in creating a realistic action plan
• Manage client cases through their interaction with the agency, conducting follow-up and inputting case notes
• Advocate for clients with respect to Ontario Works, bring a clear understanding of the legislation to client situations
• Assess and advise clients with strategies and steps for attaining employment as well as assist in placing clients in suitable job opportunities
• Conduct client placement intake and assessment meetings to evaluate client readiness and next steps
• Conduct mock interviews with clients as part of interview preparation
• Do follow-up calls and letters to maintain client contact and update client notes
• Provide information on appropriate resources to clients as needed
• Create and nurture strong relationships with clients and employers, monitoring placement situations to ensure retention
• Maintain detailed records of client and employer interactions in WebTracker and CaMS
• Meet weekly and monthly targets associated with multiple funding programs
• Negotiate training incentive contracts with employers according to current guidelines and funding, identifying employer needs and workplace opportunities for clients
• Prepare and maintain the necessary documentation for accounting procedures, including invoicing and contract negotiation
• Market with employers regarding the Canada Ontario Jobs Grant program
