FNMI Student Support Tutor – After School Program

The Greater Essex County District School Board invites applications from qualified elementary or secondary teachers who are interested in serving as academic Tutors for First Nations, Metis and Inuit Students after school.

Job Summary:

TERM OF APPOINTMENT: The program runs until the first week of June 2024.

DUTIES COMMENCING: ASAP

RATE OF PAY: $43.60 per hour

Nature & Scope of Position:

  • Individuals will work with students to provide additional academic support in the areas of literacy, numeracy and science;
  • Contacting parents/guardians and schedule tutoring times outside of the school day;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to and documented success in working to create a fair, inclusive, antiracist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations;
  • Making arrangements for tutoring locations (face to face) in a school or a public location such as a local library or virtually (based on parent/guardian request); and,
  • Communicating student progress with parent/guardian and Teacher Consultant Program Lead.

Qualifications:

  • Ontario Teacher’s Qualifications (Ontario Teaching Certificate required).
