EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
HEAD START/DAYCARE CUSTODIAN

PROGRAM AREA: HEAD START/DAYCARE
POSITION TITLE: HEAD START/DAYCARE CUSTODIAN (FULL TIME)
REPORTING PROTOCOL: REPORTS TO THE HEAD START DAYCARE PROGRAM MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY:

To keep Head Start/Daycare centres sanitary, safe, and orderly. To complete routine cleaning tasks, do related work as required in collaboration with Janitor/Grounds Maintenance worker.

Experience and Qualifications

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Working knowledge of approved sanitation and safety procedures
▪ Valid Ontario Driver’s License with reliable transportation (Asset)
▪ Working knowledge of inventory system
▪ Knowledge of operating small machinery (i.e. lawn mower, weed eater, snow blower)
▪ Valid W.H.I.M.I.S. certificate
▪ Valid First Aid / CPR certificate
▪ Valid CPIC / Vulnerable Sector Check
▪ Must adhere to the employment manual of the Chippewas of Kettle & Stony Point First Nation.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
▪ Must be physically able to perform heavy cleaning duties, including bending and lifting;
▪ Read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets with instructions.
▪ Ability to maintain good working relationships with other custodians, school staff, students and public.
▪ Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
▪ Ability to arrange an effective work schedule under a minimum of direct supervision.
▪ Working knowledge of materials, equipment and chemicals used in janitorial work.
▪ Ability to use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and skillfully.
▪ Being a positive role model through healthy lifestyles
