Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Board of Education is currently accepting applications for:

Health and Physical Education Teacher

BACKGROUND:

We are the Anishinaabeg of Deshkan Ziibiing, also known as Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. We call ourselves Anishinbek, which means the original people. We are known as the Ojibway, a Nation of the Algonquin language family who originally migrated to the Great Lakes area from the north-eastern region of North America. Our political alliances are with the Odawa (Ottawa) and Bodaywadami (Pottawatomi), who form the Three Fires Confederacy. We have a modern air-conditioned school with a full-sized double-gym, outdoor track, a full cafeteria and a new library. Class sizes are small and well stocked with current resources, a SmartBoard and ample access to current technology.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A valid Ontario Teacher’s Certificate and an Undergraduate degree
  • Additional qualifications are an asset
  • Be in good standing with OCT
  • Clean CPIC/Vulnerable Sector is required upon offer of employment
  • First Aid Qualifications
  • Bring a creative, innovative, and positive approach to teaching
  • Excellent classroom management, organization and planning skills
  • Ability to communicate with parents, students, and co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner
  • Works with a high standard of integrity
  • Excellent oral, written, communication, facilitation and presentation skills

HOURS OF WORK: Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM (7.5-hour days)

SALARY: dependent on qualifications and experience ranges from $44,601.00 – $102,995.00
