Job Description

PROGRAM AREA: HEALTH CENTRE
POSITION TITLE: HOME & COMMUNITY CARE COOK
REPORTING PROTOCOL: REPORTS TO THE HOME AND COMMUNITY CARE MANAGER OR DESIGNATE

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Home & Community Care Manager or Designate, the Home & Community Care Cook will be trained to supervise and organize the Assisted Living Facility kitchen and prepare meals as well as snacks for residents according to dietitian-approved menus. The HCC Cook will also be responsible for program food prep and clean up as required within the Home & Community Care and Community Health Programs. Also, assist with other community health programming.

Experience and Qualifications

EDUCATION/SKILL REQUIRED:
▪ OSSD or equivalent;
▪ Safe Food Handler’s Certificate, must be privy to renewals;
▪ Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast setting;
▪ Experience in plans, preparing and serving nutritious meals in large batches;
▪ Knowledge and practice in hygienic food preparation and serving;
▪ Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be a self-starter;
▪ Task-oriented work style that requires minimal direction;
▪ Being a positive role model through healthy lifestyles;
▪ CPIC – Vulnerable Sector Check must be provided prior to attending to site;
▪ Must possess a valid Class G License and must have reliable transportation and be able to travel as needed;
▪ Current First Aid/CPR and AED training;
▪ Other duties assigned.
