About the 50-30 Challenge: Fanshawe College has been selected as one of Colleges and Institutes Canada’s regional hubs for the 50-30 Challenge. The 50-30 Challenge is an initiative between the Government of Canada, Canadian businesses, and organizations. The goal of the program is to challenge Canadian organizations to increase the representation and inclusion of equity-deserving groups within their workplaces. This is an exciting contract opportunity to contribute to Fanshawe’s and the 50-30 Challenge’s mission to foster a sense of belonging in our communities.
Duties: Reporting to the Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and the Senior Advisor, Indigenous Education and Development, the Indigenous Employment and Training Advisor will be a key member of Fanshawe’s 50-30 Challenge Hub team. The Training Advisor will serve as the primary point of contact for clients of Fanshawe’s regional hub (i.e., participating organizations and businesses of the 50-30 Challenge) and provide mentorship, coaching, and training services to organization leaders. The Training Advisor will provide support to organizations seeking to enhance representation of equity-deserving groups, with a focus on First Nations, Métis and Inuit employment.
The Training Advisor supports Challenge Participants to identify their employment equity goals, anticipate and assess learning needs, prepare learning sessions/supports/events, facilitate learning in multiple modes of delivery, and correspond with Challenge Participants about their learning objectives. The incumbent will combine their significant knowledge of decolonization, Indigenization, and EDI principles and rich experience of facilitation to provide quality and effective service to Challenge Participants through Fanshawe’s regional hub.
Given the subject matter of the required training and education, this position is open only to candidates who self-identify as First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit. Self-indication as First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit is a mandatory requirement of this position.
