Job Description: Indigenous Outreach Worker

Job Summary:

The Indigenous Outreach Worker is a key position focused on enhancing the organization’s outreach and engagement within Indigenous communities. This role involves planning and executing community outreach events, developing communications, and integrating Indigenous cultural perspectives into program designs and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Programs Director to plan, execute, and evaluate outreach events tailored to Indigenous communities.
  • Assist in developing communication networks that focus on Indigenous peoples.
  • Support the Communications Officer in creating relevant communications for local First Nations and urban Indigenous communities.
  • Assist in recruiting Indigenous staff and volunteers.
  • Provide an Indigenous cultural perspective in community outreach activities.
  • Organize and participate in community events relevant to Indigenous culture and traditions.
  • Liaise with community partners to inform about Nokee Kwe’s programs and services, emphasizing adherence to Indigenous principles and practices.
  • Clearly articulate the benefits of Indigenous practices to non-Indigenous audiences.
  • Lead Nokee Kwe’s participation in significant Indigenous cultural celebrations such as Solidarity Day.
  • Represent Nokee Kwe on community committees that focus on cultural inclusion and support for equity-denied groups.

Supervision and Mentoring:

This position will be directly through a shared leadership, receiving both guidance and mentorship throughout the placement.
