Organization Description
Thunderbird Partnership Foundation is a national non-profit organization serving First Nations in mental wellness. Our mandate is set by three frameworks:

  1. Honouring Our Strengths: A Renewed Framework to Address Substance Use Issues Among First Nations in Canada
  2. Indigenous Wellness Framework
  3. First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum

Our core stakeholders are First Nations communities and the network of First Nations adult and youth treatment centres. To support the mandate, Thunderbird has two office locations, one based in a First Nations community in southwestern Ontario, and the other in the city of London, Ontario.

Your opportunity
As the Thunderbird Partnership Foundation Instructional Design Development Specialist, you will

  • work in collaboration with the Online Training Team to develop and design online courses using best practices ensuring quality assurance and maintaining the integrity and quality of the program;
  • apply current research and theory inclusive of Indigenous knowledge to the practice of instructional design for online learning and web-based learning platforms;
  • ensure and support the use of virtual on-line platforms to guide the process of knowledge transfer of best practices, expertise, tools, and resources;
  • work collaboratively with the online training team to maintain quality assurance standards and consistency of training curriculum resources and training delivery methodology and evaluation;
  • maintain current knowledge of principles and trends regarding online learning and web-based learning platforms;
  • develop and design online learning supports that reflect the diversity of learners and groups of learners;
  • collect evaluative findings to examine the effectiveness of the online learning program with the goal to improve content and materials;
  • provide ongoing coaching and support to Community of Practice trainers/learners and promote collaboration amongst the participants;
  • collaborate to expand and support training delivery through online technologies with an emphasis on the outcomes for stakeholders;
  • apply your experience, skills, talents, and passion for the benefit of others while learning from the expertise of your wellness focused team;

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Education; Information Technology; Computer Science + 3 years related experience
  • Excellent knowledge of learning management systems and web/digital delivery tools
  • Cultural Competence and ability to interact effectively within First Nation communities/societies
  • Demonstrated skills in researching and evaluating standards in online learning; web-based platforms and instructional design/ curriculum development
  • Superior knowledge in technical writing
  • Knowledge of various needs assessment and research methods
  • Ability to function autonomously, to be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and manage competing work demands
  • Work well within a team and a highly collaborative environment
  • Able to solve problems independently and manage projects
  • High level of professionalism and able to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Able to utilize multimedia and authoring tools
  • Ability to access work sites not accessible by public transit
