Position: Intake/Investigation Worker

Term: Permanent Full-Time

Division: Social Services/Band Representatives

Salary: Competitive salary range

Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m., Monday – Friday, flexible to work some evenings and weekends

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Band Representative Manager or designate, the Intake/Investigation Worker assists in managing intakes and referrals received from Child Welfare/Child Well-Being agencies. The Intake/Investigation Worker ensures that registered/eligible children and/or youth and their family, who are involved in the child welfare system know their inherent and legal rights; are treated fairly, equitable, respectfully and are provided with culturally relevant services, resources and programs that are consistent with the vision, mission, and values of Oneida Nation of the Thames.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent required;
  2. Social Service Worker diploma or completion of related diploma program (deemed appropriate by interview panel); OR
  3. Enrollment in a Social Service Worker diploma program with an expected completion date within 2 years;
  4. Minimum one year work experience with Indigenous children, youth and families, preferred;
  5. Must have computer skills in Microsoft Office applications;
  6. Valid class “G” driver’s license and driver abstract required.

REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO STARTING EMPLOYMENT:

  1. The successful candidate must submit a recent (completed within 6-months) Vulnerable Sector CPIC, at own expense;
  2. The successful candidate must submit a copy of valid Class “G” driver’s license and recent (completed within 6-months) driver abstract, at own expense;
  3. The successful candidate must submit a copy of applicable educational qualifications (certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.) OR letter from educational institution confirming ongoing studies.
