Atlohsa Family Healing Services is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Land-Based Activator for the Southwest Healing Lodge. The primary role of the Land-Based Activator is to mentor and guide the Atlohsa Team in an enthusiastic manner while executing and delivering land-based initiatives enriched with culture and language. These initiatives will coincide with ways of knowing, doing, and being as it relates to land connection as a means of enhancing wellness in a balanced manner.
Reporting to the Healing Lodge Manager, the Land-Based Activator will be an active team player in providing leadership, mentorship, and capacity building in implementing a sustainable land-based program to strengthen and support the vision of the land-based healing model.
The Land-Based Activator will also collaborate with Elders/Knowledge Keepers and Language Holders in coordinating and implementing land-based programming while ensuring personal and cultural safety of program participants.
The Southwest Healing Lodge is intended to provide day and residential addictions treatment for Indigenous peoples, through land-based healing programming. The Healing Lodge has a special focus on empowering families and the prevention and healing from gender-based violence.
As Atlohsa continues to rapidly grow and expand, a willingness to be nimble, flexible, and accommodate ongoing change is necessary.
Role and Responsibility
Using a wholistic Indigenous-led approach to principles of harm reduction and trauma-informed care, the Land-Based Activator will be responsible for designing, developing, and facilitating land-based initiatives outlined in the Healing Lodge program model, collaborating with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to develop a network of services for programs and providing staff support in learning and development as it pertains to Indigenous Knowledge within land-based learning initiatives and day-to-day practices.
Reporting to the Healing Lodge Manager, the Land-Based Activator provides input into programming pertaining to land-based initiatives and strategic initiatives to sustain program objectives and outcomes. The Activator maintains the personal and cultural safety of participants while building an environment of cultural sensitivity and awareness amongst participants and staff. The Activator is expected to complete administrative functions, reports, and adhere to policies and procedures and relevant practices. They will ensure the confidentiality and safekeeping of documents and records. The Activator will develop and maintain a detailed work plan of activities and corresponding budget.
