Job Description

The Land Surveyor Trainee will work under the guidance of the Land Surveyor to support all aspects of land surveying for the Oneida Nation of the Thames community and Council.This role involves conducting topographical land surveys of designated sites to determine accurate locations, elevations, boundaries, and contours. These surveys support land division, title registration, and construction planning using precision surveying equipment.The Trainee will assist in taking precise measurements, researching maps, deeds, and other land records, and may contribute to environmental assessment and reporting processes.Accurate data is critical, as the Oneida Nation of the Thames relies on this information for approving land survey documentation.

Experience and Qualifications

EDUCATION:Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.Formal education or training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Land Surveying, or a related field is preferred.EXPERIENCE:A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar role is preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.Training in AutoCAD software is an asset; willingness to train is acceptable.Strong mathematical and analytical skills.Knowledge of survey equipment and basic maintenance procedures is considered an asset.Valid Class “G” driver’s license and use of company vehicle is required.
