London Community Woodshop Assistant

Pathways Employment Help Centre (PEHC) unleashes people’s potential through Employment, Skills Training and Advocacy. The London Community Woodshop (LCW), a social enterprise division of PEHC, is a membership-based public woodshop where people can experiment, learn new techniques or start a business.

Mission: The Community Woodshop Assistant will ensure the success of the London Community Woodshop by: Engaging community members, creating a welcoming environment, facilitating groups and workshops, and maintaining site and equipment. This is currently a part time position of 20 hours a week.

Accountabilities:
• Monitor and maintain safe usage of equipment
• Assist with upkeep of tools and machinery
• Provide orientation and information sessions to new and potential participants
• Ensure proper usage of the machines among Woodshop members
• Develop and facilitate workshops and classes to a wide variety of groups and clubs
• Develop a supportive culture of learning with a passion for woodworking
• Administer membership policies and practices to ensure an open and fair environment
• Complete custom orders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• 3-5 years’ experience operating woodworking equipment preferred
• Extensive knowledge of woodworking safety practices
• Passion and ability to engage community
• Experience working as a part of a volunteer team
• High level of organization and initiative
• Valid Driver’s License and access to vehicle is an asset
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Flexible weekday and weekend hours
