VIRTUAL LUNAAPEEW TEACHER
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR
(SEMESTER 2 – JANUARY 2026 – JUNE 2026)

SUMMARY
The Lunaapeew Language Teacher will provide curriculum content in the delivery of a high school credit for Level A students as part of the 2025-2026 school year e-learning courses. The course to be offered is LNDAO – Level A, with an emphasis on oral communication. The successful candidate will deliver an online virtual course to meet the needs of students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan and deliver the Lunaapeew, culturally relevant lessonsthat reflect local perspectives where possible.
• Support students by providing ongoing assessment and evaluation.
• Complete reporting requirements through PowerSchool.
• Communicate with families and guidance departments as required.
• Engage learners through a virtual learning platform – D2L.
• Report to the school Principal of the Kinoomaadziwin Education Body Virtual High School

HOURS OF WORK
Course offered as an e-Learning course from February 2, 2026, to June 26, 2026 (Semester 2).

LOCATION
This is a remote contract intended to support virtual courses. The successful applicant will work from a remote office to be determined. Reliable internet access is required

Experience and Qualifications

THE REQUIREMENTS
• Valid Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of Qualification.
• Fluency in Lunaapewe preferred, or experience teaching Lunaapeew.
• Experience using virtual teaching tools and platforms.
• Awareness and appreciation of First Nations culture.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to Provide a VSC Screening
