What the Role is

Reporting to the Director, Office of Inclusion and Social Accountability, the Manager, Equity & Inclusion Operations is accountable for ensuring excellence in the execution of the equity and inclusion strategy at LHSC. The Manager will bring demonstrated experience in equity and inclusion program creation, implementation, and evaluation; drawing on their exceptional communications, change and project management, learning and development, and policy, and evaluation skills. The role is responsible for the development of the education, learning and leadership development framework to advance equity and inclusion. The Manager is also accountable for the development of a measurement and evaluation framework based on LHSC’s Fundamental Commitments. Through the collection and analyzing of engagement and socio-demographic data, the Manager measures progress and impact to help drive quality improvement and bring creativity and strategic thinking to identify new opportunities and approaches to advancing equity and inclusion at LHSC.

The Manager, Equity and Inclusion Operations directs, controls, and evaluates the delivery of department services. They are responsible for translating decisions of the program leadership into execution, by utilizing relationship management and working with internal and external partners to achieve the necessary outcomes. The Manager ensures their team and department operations are aligned with LHSCs mission, vision, and values, while working together to successfully achieve our strategic objectives. This role is accountable for day-to-day department activities, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing, development and support of a healthy workplace, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives and change management, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls. A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and networks within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization.LHSC is committed to the principles of hybrid work and may offer this option to employees whose work can be performed in an alternate location, without adverse impact to the operations of the Hospital, inclusive of our Staff and Patient experience. Confirmation of hybrid work options available to you will be clarified upon hire and may be subject to change based on the duties required of your position. Experience and Qualifications

What Skills Are Needed

• Ability to lead and implement complex large-scale projects and change initiatives

• Experience developing and implementing engagement strategies to inform program design and planning, including but not limited to engaging with community organizations, program staff, community, and/or individuals with lived or living experience

• Experience designing and developing strategies, programs, and action plans and leading and supporting staff training, with a focus on health equity, inclusion, accessibility, anti-oppression, and human rights

• Experience in the evaluation of policies and practices that address equity and inclusion.

• In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, principles and best practices including AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act,), Ontario Human Rights Code, Blind Persons Act, etc.

• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, including demonstrated ability to lead consultative processes that foster diverse viewpoints and approaches to achieving goals.

• Planning and executing action plans that deliver results and motivate individuals for greater performance excellence

• Strong business acumen

• Values-based leadership and a proven record of accomplishment for developing and sustaining healthy work environments and effective teams while leading in a performance-driven culture

What You Will Bring with You

• Successful completion of a recognized baccalaureate degree program in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Gender Studies, or a related health care discipline

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles in a healthcare environment, preferably in an acute care academic teaching hospital

• Previous experience in Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility

• French and other language skills are considered an asset in supporting the communities we serve

• Preference will be given to applicants with lived or living experience of systemic oppression

• Preference and consideration will be given to active members of the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) who have, or are in process of attaining the Canadian Health Executive (CHE) Select certification program

• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with diverse individuals, creating positive impact

• Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email and Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
