The Opportunity

We are seeking a Manager, Volunteering and Training to provide leadership and oversight of the volunteer program. This team member will also manage, coordinate and execute learning and training programs for staff, Sponsored Employees and volunteers that align with our strategic vision and goals.

Compensation Structure: Based on the salary band for this role, external candidates can expect to be offered a starting salary in the range of $55,000 – $58,000 ($30.22 – $31.87 per hour). When determining the wage, we consider the market, candidate experience, as well as internal equity. Additionally, United Way also offers:

Our Ideal Candidate Will Possess

  • Post-secondary school credentials in a related field (non-profit / volunteer management, human resources, adult education, or an equivalent combination of education and related professional experience)
  • Two to three years’ relevant experience
  • Experience developing and delivering training to adults in person and virtually
  • Good understanding of local social issues and initiatives
  • Intermediate computer skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook); proficient using virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
  • Experience motivating, inspiring, leading and maintaining positive relationships with a diverse range of people
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data to determine if program objectives are being achieved
  • Exceptional project management and time management skills
  • Ability to provide feedback and guidance that inspires high performance and ensures positive outcomes
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle with a minimum of $1,000,000 insurance coverage preferred

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop training and learning opportunities and tools that meet United Way’s strategic goals and functional needs while modeling best practices
  • Oversee and coordinate annual training program, including curriculum development
  • Manage and analyze data to determine the effectiveness of organizational training; review and identify learning needs that will help fulfill strategic and business goals
  • Ensure that training data/records are updated in a timely manner
  • Manage United Way’s volunteer management strategy, including data collection and analysis, development of policies and procedures, orientation and onboarding and recognition
  • Act as the primary contact for volunteer inquiries, internships and community-engaged learning
  • Complete annual review of volunteer program including evaluation and measurement of volunteer satisfaction and complete compliance activities of work with Development and Community Impact team members to support workplace and donor engagement activities including corporate volunteer programs
  • Provide administrative support to Development team for corporate volunteer grants
  • Perform other duties as needed to ensure the safe and effective operations of the organization
