Hours: 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. with some evenings and weekends, as operationally required.

Pay Details: $32.42 per hour

Note: This is a full-time Support position (35 hours per week).

Duties:
Under the direction of the Director, the Mathematics and Science Technologist works as an integral part of the Library Learning Commons (LLC) team providing discipline-specific assistance to individual students or groups of students. The incumbent also liaises with cross-College departments in Academic and Student Services, as well as the Fanshawe Student Union to determine student needs for math and science support. The incumbent prepares and delivers workshops which allow students to practice, apply and/or demonstrate, the skills necessary to improve their mathematical and science skills. The incumbent also provides direction and assistance to students, faculty, and staff using the LLC resources and services and provides back-up in other LLC areas as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary 4-year degree in Mathematics or Science, with a focus on Chemistry, Physics or Engineering
  • Minimum 1-year of related experience working in a tutorial or educational setting
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
  • Knowledge of Chemistry, Physics and Engineering an asset
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
