Job description

Atlohsa Family Healing Services is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Anti-Human Trafficking Coordinator in Atlohsa’s Okaadenige Anti-Human Trafficking program. The Coordinator understands that Atlohsa is a not for profit charitable organization, with a mandate to offer the tools Indigenous families and individual’s need to heal their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being.

Role and Responsibility

Atlohsa is seeking an empowering individual with lived experience to join The Okaadenige Anti Human Trafficking team as Coordinator to lead and provide culturally appropriate and wholistic support for Indigenous women and girls, particularly to women who are survivors of human trafficking, sexual exploitation and to those at risk. The Anti human trafficking Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and work alongside the Okaadenige team to support and outreach tasks as well.

Suitability

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the languages, traditional ways, history and cultures of the Indigenous population in the London region
  • Current knowledge of Indigenous community services and resources 
  • Can provide proof of education in a Social work/social services degree
  • Experience in working with anti-trafficking is a must.
  • Outreach experience in dealing with encampments/street people to interact an find individuals who are at risk for human trafficking
  • Minimum of 1 year work experience in Social Services and/or related experience
  • Experience with providing supports to the 2SLGBTQIA community and individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to receive training support, supervision and direction
  • Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal relations, problem-solving, crisis intervention, group dynamics, community development and other innovative approaches 
  • Understanding of cultural safety and an awareness of its impact on practice 
  • Skills in conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation (to build trust and resolve disagreements)  
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills and the ability to prioritize multiple competing workload demands in fast paced environment
  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with others in a respectful manner as defined in the Atlohsa Code of Conduct 
  • Ability to develop budgets and programming to provide supports to the community
  • Current Vulnerable Sector check

EMPLOYMENT TERM: Full-time contract position

START DATE: Immediately

CLOSING DATE: Open until filled

REMUNERATION: $60,000, and a comprehensive benefits package
