Operations Supervisor

The Greater Essex County District School Board invites applications from qualified, team-oriented individuals for the non-bargaining, full-time permanent position of Operations Supervisor within the Facility Services Department.

Job Summary:
LOCATION: Facility Services
START DATE: As soon as possible
SALARY : $75,526.40 – $87,588.80

Nature & Scope of Position:
Reporting to the Coordinator of Operations, and as an integral member of the Facility Services supervisory team, the Operations Supervisor will assist with all facets of the Facility Services function with specific focus on:

  • Ensuring the effective and efficient utilization of custodial staff, equipment and contractors when planning and scheduling Custodial and Operational work while ensuring the safety of school staff.
  • Providing direct supervision to a unionized staff over multiple sites with respect to custodial cleaning and operational activities including timely completion of work, effective performance of staff, technical assistance, equipment standardization, development and implementation of standard operating procedures, adherence OSHA standards.
  • Implementation of ISO9001 standards and other departmental initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Monitoring the welfare, safety, training, competency, motivation, discipline and the performance evaluation of staff and contractors as required.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff.
  • Partnering with Principals to provide operational services effectively and efficiently while focusing on customer service ideals.
  • Effective management of concerns raised by both school and Facility Services staff and, when unresolved, forwarding problems, with comments and recommendations, immediately to the Coordinator of Operations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to and documented success in working to create a fair, inclusive, antiracist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Operations.

Experience and Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a related diploma/degree.
  • Minimum 3 years related supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven Computer skills in MS Office programs.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Working knowledge and experience of ISO9001 processes and certification.
  • Working knowledge of Collective Agreements is an asset.
  • Flexibility in work schedules \ shifts.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with training of staff.
