Position: Paramedic Chief

Term: Permanent Full-Time

Division: Emergency Services

Salary: Competitive salary range

Hours: 40 hours per week, must be flexible to adjust work hours

JOB SUMMARY:

This professional position is responsible and accountable for the nature, extent and quality of paramedic service delivery and provincially mandated programs delivered within the division. These duties include planning, budgeting, organizing, co-ordinating, administering, managing and evaluation for the component programs, as directed by the Chief Administrative Officer, organizational policy, relevant legislation, and appropriate standards of practice.

Must be prepared to provide the leadership, vision, and expertise to implement and evaluate new and existing services. As a member of the senior leadership team, participates in strategic planning, community development, systems planning, policy planning in keeping with the mandate of Oneida Nation of the Thames and the strategic direction of the Oneida Nation Elected Council.

EDUCATION:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration or in the Health Sciences field from a recognized University, or a combination of university, college and experience in Emergency Services/Health care field.
  2. Vaccine: Influenza and any other required immunization as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge and at least five years experience in a paramedic service management position.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in administration of provincial emergency health service system (i.e. Ontario, First Nations, etc.).
  3. Knowledge of the Province of Ontario paramedic system and a working knowledge of the health care system is preferred.
  4. Knowledge and experience in emergency planning and preparedness is preferred.
  5. Proven experience in project management and the administration of an annual budget.
  6. Knowledge and interpretation of the relevant Acts and Regulations (Ambulance Act, Highway Traffic Act, Emergency Management Act, Municipal Act etc.).

REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO STARTING EMPLOYMENT:

  1. The successful candidate must submit a recent (completed within a 30-day timeframe) Vulnerable Sector CPIC, at their own expense.
  2. The successful candidate must submit a copy of a valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license and recent (completed within a 30-day timeframe) driver’s abstract, at their own expense.
  3. The successful candidate must submit a copy of applicable educational qualifications (certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.).
