Position: Personal Support Worker

Term: Permanent Part-Time

Division: Health/Home and Community Care

Salary: Competitive salary range

Hours: Work hours vary and are dependent on client care needs, weekly hours average between 18 – 25 hours

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Home and Community Care Coordinator, the Personal Support Worker (“PSW”) provides support, care and help to clients within the Home and Community Care Program. The PSW provides clearly identified personal care and facilitates routine activities of daily living. The type and amount of care will be based on the documented assessments of the client. The PSW demonstrates compassion and sensitivity and ensures the dignity of the client.

Duties include but are not limited to preparing meals, performing light housekeeping, attending to personal care and simple dressings, and assisting with mobility devices and special aids.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized post secondary institution.
  2. Previous experience working with elderly, frail, disabled or other related health field, an asset.
  3. Valid First Aid/CPR certification or willing to obtain.
  4. Valid Class “G” driver’s license and use of personal vehicle required.

REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO STARTING EMPLOYMENT:

  1. The successful candidate must submit a recent (completed within a 30-day timeframe) Vulnerable Sector CPIC, at their own expense.
  2. The successful candidate must submit a copy of Class “G” driver’s license, prior to starting employment.
  3. The successful candidate must submit a copy of applicable educational qualifications (certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.).
