Privacy Specialist (VFC 41050)

Finance and Administration

Office of the President

Location: London

Employment Group: Admin

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary Range: $69,600 to $87,001

Closing Date: Open Until Filled

Note: This is a full-time temporary Administrative position (37.5 hours per week) until August 31, 2024.

Duties:
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Administration, the Privacy Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive College-wide privacy program to ensure Fanshawe College is in compliance with applicable provincial, federal and international privacy laws relating to the collecting, maintaining and protecting of personal information. The Privacy Specialist will also serve as a critical member on the College’s Cybersecurity and Data Governance Committees.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary 3-year diploma/degree in Computer Science, Privacy, Business, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Law, Ethics, or related field
  • PACC, IAPP or similar designation
  • Minimum 5 years’ privacy related experience with a minimum of 3 years’ of experience in privacy consultation, advisement and compliance
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
  • Ability to work with a high level of tact and diplomacy
  • Research and analysis skills to develop evidence-based policy objectives, options and solutions
  • Respect confidentiality and safeguarding of sensitive records
  • Sound judgment
  • Good report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to support the development of College policies, as well as experience in convening groups of stakeholders to collaborate on privacy matters
  • Ability to assess complex and technical issues
  • Excellent understanding of privacy legislation PIPEDA, FIPPA, GDRP, PHIPA
