A full-time Professor at Fanshawe College is responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students. The successful candidate will teach courses in the School of Contemporary Media with a focus on the Public Relations and Digital Communications programs. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONSCombination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student successExcellent communicatorSuperior writing, digital media and editing skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsTeaching experience preferredRelated industry work experience, previous college teaching experience and knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations are assetsAbility to evaluate student progress/achievement and assume responsibility for the overall assessment of the student’s work within assigned coursesDemonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including students, faculty, support staff, administrators and community stakeholdersAbility to deliver curriculum in a manner that meets the needs of diverse learnersCommitment to and support of equity, diversity and inclusivity in classroomApproximate Start Date: August 12, 2023 Salary: Determination of starting salaries is based on relevant teaching/occupational experience and relevant formal qualifications, supported with original transcripts from granting institutions. The salary scale is $73,079 to $126,689 along with a comprehensive benefit package. Partial load or full-time academic staff presently employed with the College will be given first consideration in accordance with the Academic Collective Agreement. While transcripts are not required for the interview, they are mandatory prior to any offer of employment.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONSPost-secondary 4-year Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, and/or Digital Media requiredMaster’s Degree in Communications and Media Studies, Public Relations, or a relevant field preferredMinimum 10 years’ relevant industry experienceAn equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirementsExperience in multi-media, content creation, journalism, public relations, internal communications, and media relations requiredStrong computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies and social media platforms an assetFamiliarity with digital communication software and platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite, Miro, Canva, Hootsuite, WordPress and Google AnalyticsCrisis communications and community relations experience required
