PUBLIC WORKS MANAGER

PROGRAM AREA: PUBLIC WORKS
POSITION TITLE: PUBLIC WORKS MANAGER
REPORTING PROTOCOL: REPORTS TO FIRST NATION MANAGER/CEO

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Public Works Manager will be responsible for providing leadership for the successful management of the community’s infrastructure services and special projects which include, public facilities, water, wastewater, roads, solid waste, and other key infrastructure assets. Knowledge of First Nation government administration processes, systems and Indigenous Services Canada regulations and procedures. This role ensures that all infrastructure programs and services are developed, enhanced, and managed in an effective and efficient manner that provides for a better quality of life for all members of the Chippewas of Kettle & Stony Point First Nation.

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Engineering, Planning, Science or Technology related degrees or diplomas an asset.
▪ Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience managing community infrastructure.
▪ Certification in Wastewater collection, distribution & treatment current certification an asset or willing to train in.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
▪ Technology skills: proficient in Microsoft Word applications, Report writing, Excel Spreadsheets.
▪ Proficiencies: Excellent Verbal and Written Communication.
▪ Experience with asset, project, and portfolio management.
▪ Experience in procuring and managing major infrastructure projects.
▪ Experience working with Asset Management & Project Scheduling software systems.
▪ Leadership and team building, able to motivate team members and coaching skills;
▪ Analytical, problem solving and decision making skills;
▪ Stress and time management skills;
▪ Valid Driver’s License and own transportation.
▪ Driver’s licenses: DZ is an asset.
▪ Teamwork skills: development of High Performing Teams
▪ Understanding and appreciation for First Nation Culture, history, language.
