Job Description

Position: Public Works – Summer Students (2 Positions Available)

Department: Roads Department – Public Works

Term: Summer Student 2024 (July 8-August 30, 2024)

Wage: $17.30 per hour

Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m., Monday – Friday

Posting Date: May 6, 2024

Closing Date: May 24, 2024 at 4:30p.m.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Public Works Supervisor, the summer students will learn and assist with the day-to-day operations of the Public Works Department.

REQUIREMENT:

  1. Must have a Social Insurance Number;
  2. Must be between the ages of 15 – 29;
  3. Must be an Oneida Nation of the Thames band member;
  4. Must have reliable transportation to and from work each day;
  5. Must be a secondary or post secondary student;
  6. The successful candidate must submit proof of school registration for school year 2023-2024 and 2024-2025, prior to starting employment.
  7. Must have First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to take training; and
  8. Must commit to the full 8 weeks of employment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Weed Eating and the ditches at intersections and around band owned buildings
  2. Debris pick up, when needed
  3. Maintaining weed eaters
  4. Some painting
  5. Assist with minor maintenance of small tools and equipment
  6. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
