Job Description

Chippewas of the Thames First Nation is accepting applications for the position of:
Registered Dietitian (Contract: 1 year)

DEPARTMENT: Health
REPORTS TO: Health Director
LOCATION: Chippewas Health Centre, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation
TERM: Contract Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30 (evenings and weekends may be required). Please note this is a full-time position based on funding approval.

Summary

The Registered Dietitian works in collaboration with the health team to promote nutrition and healthy living for community members. The Registered Dietician provides nutrition counseling, develops personalized meal plans, monitors progress, and delivers community outreach and education programs. The Registered Dietician will also remain up to date on current research in nutrition and food sciences, applying this knowledge to strengthen the health and well-being of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.

Responsibilities

  • Intake and assessment of clients, working cooperatively with other services.
  • Identify issues and development of appropriate plan of care using standardized and nonstandardized tools.
  • Maintain client records in accordance with the College Dieticians of Ontario guidelines and practice standards.
  • Apply critical thinking and available data to guide decisions that achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Research and access information to create user-friendly documents for staff and community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.

Experience and Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science.
  • Registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in a First Nation preferred.
  • Member of Dietitians of Canada.
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate.
  • ASIST Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, and $1M automobile insurance.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check (Level 3) required as a condition of employment.
