Atlohsa Family Healing Services is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Research Analyst on the Action Research for Chronic Homelessness (ARCH) project within the Giwetashkad Indigenous Homelessness Team. The primary role of the Research Analyst is to provide quantitative data analysis and qualitative research support to the project team as part of an action research study on alleviating Indigenous homelessness in London, Ontario. We are seeking a skilled, passionate research professional with quantitative data analysis experience that excels in applied social service and social science projects to interpret and communicate findings towards actionable policy recommendations.

Role and Responsibility

Working as part of the Giwetashkad Indigenous Homelessness team and using a wholistic Indigenous-led approach, the Research Analyst will support all aspects of the research project including interviews and focus groups with Indigenous peoples experiencing homelessness and service providers in the housing and homelessness field to identify systemic barriers within London’s Coordinated Access system. The research analyst will liaise with project partners to collect, organize, interpret, and analyze statistical demographic information from the Homelessness Individuals and Families Information System (HIFIS) database and work to improve data quality. The Research Analyst will synthesize large quantitative data sets and work to identify and track important data markers that will assist in building a body of evidence to support innovative, Indigenous-led service solutions to alleviate Indigenous homelessness. The Research Analyst is well versed in Indigenous research methodologies and will provide guidance and contribute to advocacy on Indigenous data stewardship best practices rooted in ethical principles of OCAP and self-determination. The strategic goal of the Research analyst is to assist in building an evidence-base for policy recommendations on Indigenous-led best practices for improving housing and homelessness services for Indigenous people in London, Ontario.

Suitability

  • While a formal education such as a university or college degree in a related field such as social sciences and/or data analysis in an applied social setting is an asset, applicants with equivalent work, community or lived experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working with Indigenous people experiencing homelessness.
  • Strong analysis of colonialism and the ways in which historical and ongoing colonization impacts Indigenous peoples intergenerationally.
  • Understanding of cultural safety and systemic racism including awareness of its impacts on practical care provided to Indigenous peoples.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in quantitative data collection and analysis, interpreting research findings towards policy recommendations, Indigenous research methodologies, and ethical data stewardship with Indigenous peoples.
  • Skills in relationship building and collaboration, conflict resolution or restorative justice, and negotiation (to build trust and resolve disagreements)
  • Ability to receive supervision, support, direction and constructive feedback, and take initiative to ask questions and clarify tasks and information
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple competing workload demandsin fast paced environment.
  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) and inter-personal skills with the ability to interact with others in a respectful manner as defined in the Atlohsa Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to work in outdoor locations and minor physical labour such as gathering poles and lodge building.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License, First Aid and CPR certificate and Current Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

EMPLOYMENT TERM: Full-Time contract to March 31 2025

REMUNERATION: REMUNERATION: $27-34 per hour dependent on experience and qualifications
