PROGRAM AREA: PUBLIC WORKS
POSITION TITLE: ROADS LABOURER
REPORTING PROTOCOL: REPORTS TO PUBLIC WORKS MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Roads Labourer is responsible for assisting the First Nation maintenance, service, and infrastructure needs, and ensuring services are provided in a timely manner. First Nation Maintenance includes but is not limited to: road signage, community infrastructure, repairs, roads, drainages, community facility/buildings, snow removal, and other maintenance duties as identified by the Public Works Manager.
EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Minimum Grade 12, GED or equivalent
▪ WHMIS
▪ First Aid certificate an asset
▪ Certificate in operating chain saw or other equipment an asset.
▪ Safety compliance training and up-grading required applicable to the job function i.e., Confined Spaces.
▪ Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
▪ Ability to work independently with little supervision or in a team effort.
▪ Must be physically able to perform the duties of the job (lift to 50 lbs and work outside).
▪ Ability to communicate effectively, particularly when dealing with the public.
▪ Necessary knowledge of safe working and operating procedures related to equipment, tools, and work procedures required to ensure public safety.
