Job Description

Perform accounting functions such as reviewing and authorizing invoice batches, and reconciling AR/AP sub-ledger to the General ledger. Review payments and aging reports.Prepare monthly journal entries, investment purchases and related entries for the approval of the Manager.Perform cash management functions such as reviewing and maintaining internal controls for cash receipts for the various business units and completing monthly bank reconciliation.Assist in preparing financial estimates for budgeting purposes and prepare budget documents for submission to the Board of Health, City of London, and the provincial government.Prepare budget vs. actual analysis for various programs and liaise with program managers regarding significant variances.Maintains the internal budget reports and updates them, as required.Prepare monthly internal reports and external quarterly reports to the Board of Health and separate ministries (HBHC, ECD etc.).Assist in preparing financial statements and year-end working papers.Prepare sundry information and maintain the chart of accounts.Prepare government remittances for HST and other withholding taxes.Reconcile balance sheet accounts.Assist in the documentation of the financial systems and procedures.Function as a backup for payroll, group insurance benefits, and OMERS pension administration, including reviewing and verifying bi-weekly payroll entries and input batches for hourly and salary staff, auditing and ensuring accuracy of time and attendance data,Perform account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of payroll and benefit financials.

Experience and Qualifications

Active membership with CPA in good standing (Chartered Professional Accountant).Post-Secondary degree in Accounting/Finance is required.Minimum 5 years of related finance, accounting and payroll experience.2-3 years of related experience in payroll is preferred, including experience with electronic payroll systems (Ceridian Dayforce) is an asset.Experience and knowledge of group insurance benefits and OMERS pension administration is considered an asset.Public sector experience is preferred. Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) is highly desired.Demonstrate proficiency using MS Office Suite, specifically MS Excel.Financial, analytical, and statistical skills, with a good knowledge of current applicable legislation.Ability to plan and work independently and to exercise good judgment.Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate courteously and effectively, both orally and in writingProven experience dealing with highly sensitive and confidential issues while exercising discretion;Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.Exceptional attention to detail, highly developed problem-solving skills, organizational abilities and time management skills; Skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse populations;Communication proficiency (written and verbal) in French and/or any other languages is highly desirable.The salary for this position ranges from $82,666 – $97,254 based on qualifications and experience.
