Job Title: Summer Student

Job Positions: Summer Student Day Camp Counsellor (6 Positions)

Department: Child Youth and Family Well-being

Supervisor: Myles French & Wyatt Kechego

Location: 328 Chippewa Rd., Muncey, ON, N0L 1Y0

Start Date: July 11th, 2025

Finish Date: August 21, 2025

35 hours / per week

$16.50 /  per Hour

The day camp counsellor will be responsible for the successful implementation of the scheduled program throughout the right to play summer day camp. The Day Camp Counsellor will report directly to both the Youth Prevention Worker and Youth Development Coordinator.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Lead and assess program activities

  • Effectively lead a program throughout each program day.
  • Prepare all documents and materials to be used for programming; this includes but is not limited to preparing workshop materials for participants, completing monitoring and evaluation assignments.

Safety

  • Monitor assigned groups throughout day camp.
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children.
  • Maintain and model appropriate boundaries with children and youth.
  • Ensure all property is maintained at an optimal level of cleanliness and tidiness.

Experience and Qualifications

Employment Requirements:

  • Must have attended at least three of the 2024/25 Summer Student sessions hosted by Employment & Training.
  • Must have Social Insurance Number.
  • Be between the ages of 15-30 at the start of employment per funding criteria.
  • Be able to work in inclement weather conditions (hot, cold).
  • Must provide proof that they are returning to secondary, post-secondary, vocational, or technical program for the fall 2025.
  • Must be a Chippewa Band Member in accordance with the funding policy.
  • Help with the complete overall evaluation of the youth program.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel would be an asset.
  • If 18 years or older a vulnerable sector check/CPIC is required.
  • Must provide an up-to-date immunization record.
