Job Positions: Groundskeeper, Office Assistant, Day Camp Counselor, Day Care Helper, Research Assistant, Recreation Worker, Pow-wow Workers, Communications Assistant.
Start Date: July 2, 2024
Finish Date: August 30, 2024.
35 hours/per week
$16.50/per hour
Under the direction of the Employment and Training Director and the Summer Student Employment Supervisor the Summer Youth Employment Program will help increase leadership skills, build confidence, and enhance employability skills for the Chippewa of the Thames First Nations Youth.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily participation of activities and exploring career opportunities.
- Demonstrate respect, consideration, and acceptance of the opinions of others.
- Collaborate with team members, sharing ideas and differences openly; be receptive to new ideas and adapt to change as necessary.
- Demonstrate commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
- Take part in the career fair, health, safety, developmental and cultural workshops.
- Take part in the planning, preparing, and organizing of the daily Summer Youth Program.
- Liaise with Chief, Council and other departments and committees of the Chippewa of the Thames First Nation under the guidance of the Summer Student Supervisor.
- Daily attendance and participation of programming for the Summer Youth Employment Program.
- Conduct themselves accordingly while representing the Summer Youth Employment Program.
Employment Requirements:
- Be between the ages of 15-30 at the start of employment per funding criteria.
- Be able to work in inclement weather conditions (hot, cold).
- Be returning to secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program for the fall 2024.
- Participate in mandatory Occupational and Health Safety Training.
- Must be a Chippewa Band Member in accordance with the funding policy.
- Help with the complete overall evaluation of youth program.
- Knowledge of work and Excel would be an asset.
