Job Title: Summer Student

Job Positions: Youth Recreation Worker (2 Positions)

Department: Child, Youth, and Family Well-being

Supervisor: Myles French

Location: 328 Chippewa Rd., Muncey, ON N0L 1Y0

Start Date: July 11, 2025

Finish Date: August 21, 2025

35 hours /  per week

$16.50 / per Hour

The role of the Youth Recreation Worker is to implement the recreation program as directed by the Youth Development Coordinator

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, lead, and implement regular recreation programs for youth in the community each week.
  • Be in constant communication with the Youth Development Coordinator for guidance, direction, and support.
  • Attend workshops as directed by the Youth Development Coordinator.
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper distribution of information.
  • Ensure the highest degree of professionalism and client service and abide by the employee code of conduct.
  • Keep informed on all matters relating to his/her area of responsibility for the purpose of assessing, detecting problems, identifying trends, providing new and innovative initiatives, and recommendations and reports to the Youth Development Coordinator.
  • Undertake all duties in such a way that will complement and promote the aims and objectives of the Community Comprehensive Plan.
  • Retrieve and research information upon request of the Youth Recreation Supervisor.
  • Assist in event planning and implementation for the Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

Employment Requirements:

  • Must have attended at least three of the 2024/25 Summer Student training sessions hosted by Employment & Training.
  • Must have a Social Insurance Number.
  • Be between the ages of 15-30 at the start of employment per funding criteria.
  • Be able to work in inclement weather conditions (hot, cold).
  • Must provide proof that they are returning to secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program for the fall 2025.
  • Must be a Chippewa Band Member in accordance with the funding policy.
  • Help with the complete overall evaluation of the youth program.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and interest in youth development and willingness to learn and participate in training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow protocol and maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Willingness to become a part of and collaborate with a team that promotes the wellness and healing of the nation.
  • Flexible availability – evenings and weekends will be required.
  • If 18 years or older a vulnerable sector check/CPIC is required.
  • Must provide an up-to-date immunization record.
