Chippewa of the Thames First Nation Board of Education is currently accepting applications for a:

Primary/Junior Teacher

BACKGROUND:
We are the Anishinaabeg of Deshkan Ziibiing, also known as Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. We call ourselves Anishinabek, which means the original people. We are known as the Ojibway, a Nation of the Algonquin language family who originally migrated to the Great Lakes area from the north-eastern region of North America. Our political alliances are with the Odawa (Ottawa) and Bodaywadami (Pottawatomi), who form the Three Fires Confederacy. We have a modern air-conditioned school with a full-sized double-gym, outdoor track, a full cafeteria and a new library. Class sizes are small and well stocked with current resources, a SmartBoard and ample access to current technology.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have a Bachelor of Education Degree and must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
• Must have knowledge of the First Nations educational systems, learning techniques, attitudes, values, aspirations and expectations and/or a willingness to learn
• Bring a creative, innovative, and positive approach to teaching
• Excellent classroom management, organization and planning skills
• Ability to communicate with parents, students, and co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner
• Works with a high standard of integrity
• Excellent oral, written, communication, facilitation and presentation skills

SALARY: dependent on qualification and experience but ranges from $65,088.08 – $98,753.70

Current conditions of employment based on our Nations mandates:
• Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination status for all staff unless medically exempt. Those who are exempt will comply with testing directions. Testing kits are provided.
• Mandatory requirement to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which may include masks, gloves, eye protection etc. PPE is supplied.
• A recent police check, including the vulnerable sector, will be required once a candidate is selected.
