Hours: 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Pay Details: $38.01 per hour

Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Centre for Connected Building Technology, the incumbent provides up-to-date technical support and assistance to staff, faculty and students in the daily operations, maintenance, organization and implementation of the applied research activities of the Centre for Connected Building Technology (CCBT) industry labs. This includes scheduling and conducting tests, compiling data and preparing reports for the various projects done in CCBT. The incumbent also tests fixtures and performs repairs and arranges calibration of test equipment and components, when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary 3-year diploma/degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, PCB Machining, Internet of Things
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience operating in a research and development laboratory or fee for service laboratory providing various machining, electrical design and prototyping activities
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
  • Experience in industry and working with/guiding/mentoring students is an asset
  • Expertise in PCB manufacturing, data analysis, algorithm design, machine learning, or internet of things (IoT) is preferred
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop SOPs and design experiments
  • Proven ability to “get things done” inside stipulated deadline and budget, while being innovative and resourceful
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to effectively collect and manage data, generate reports
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organization, coordination and planning skills as well as strong collaborative and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate well both orally and in writing
