Position: Temporary Contract Employment, Training, Post-Secondary Outreach Worker
Department: Employment and Training Department
Report to: Chief Executive Officer
Status: Temporary Full-time Contract
Salary: Commensurate with relative education and experience

Job Summary:
The Employment & Training Outreach Worker/Post-Secondary Education supports all education and employment training programs for Caldwell First Nation members. This includes supporting students from application through graduation, managing employment and training services, expanding adult education opportunities, and strengthening relationships with schools and government partners. The role also manages budgets, ensures compliance with reporting requirements, and promotes culturally grounded, accessible education that supports lifelong learning and employment success for community members. The individual will also encourage the development of job seeking skills, effective work habits and professional attitudes through supervising and monitoring client job searching activities. Active program promotion, maintaining a roster of job candidates and qualifications, maintaining and recruiting an up-to-date roster of trained archaeological monitors and liaise with various organizations to promote same, and active job search and job-posting is part of the outreach duties. Other duties involve accurate client record keeping and providing regular progress reports to the Chief Executive Officer/Chief Operations Officer. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

Student Services
• Guide students through application, approval, and appeals processes.
• Provide orientations, sponsorship letters, and bi-term check-ins.
• Process tuition invoices, living allowance payments, and support funding requests.
• Maintain the student information system, prepare reports for ISC, and track success data.
• Organize student events (graduations, appreciation, speaker series).
• Connect students with mental health, tutoring, and other supports.

Employment & Training
• Assess applications for funding streams (skills training, enhancement, job creation, summer student, etc.).
• Manage EI verification and financial processes with Service Canada.
• Support clients with institute invoicing, reimbursements, documentation, and progress check-ins.
• Offer employment services: resume and cover letter development, interview prep, career counseling, and resource sharing.
• Build employment opportunities by liaising with organizations and promoting unique training programs (e.g., heavy equipment).

Adult Education
• Identify and support members without high school equivalency.
• Develop community-based secondary programs tailored to adult learners.
• Partner with institutions to expand adult programming and post-secondary pathways.
• Run outreach and engagement activities to encourage enrolment.
• Manage budgets, IT resources, and program startup logistics.

School Liaison
• Develop and implement Reciprocal Education Agreements (REA) with local school boards.
• Assist with student admissions, funding access, and policy development.
• Advocate with provincial/federal governments and school boards for culturally sound, barrier-free education.

Administrative
• Set and monitor departmental goals and objectives.
• Oversee budgets, reports, and program performance.
• Present updates to Council and represent CFN at meetings/committees.

Work Conditions
• Travel may be required.
• Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
• Physical activity includes walking, standing, sitting for long periods of time, lifting.

Experience and Qualifications

Qualifications
• Diploma in Human Services (or related) + 2 years’ experience in education/training
• Case management, community resource knowledge, and strong communication skills
• Decision-making, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, email)
• High ethics, confidentiality, time management, and independence
• Must provide: Criminal Record Check, valid G driver’s license, and clean abstract
• Current Criminal Records Check.
• Class G Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract.
