FLEXIBLE WORK ARRANGEMENTS:

This position requires the incumbent to work on-campus in Windsor, ON. An opportunity for some remote work may be approved within the Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) guidelines at the University of Windsor.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Total Compensation Specialist provides analytical, technical and administrative expertise to the Director, Total Compensation and Workforce Planning in the implementation and maintenance of job evaluation policies, programs and systems for the University of Windsor’s unionized and non-unionized employee groups. Provides guidance and direction to management, Human Resource Business Partners, and subsequent faculty and staff in the interpretation of job evaluation and compensation policies and practices, as well as in the resolution of related issues.
• Lead resource for job description creation/updates. Identifies comparators and ensures all relevant information with regards to work responsibilities, required knowledge/skills is obtained by Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP) for consideration of subsequent impacts on other positions prior to finalizing a job description.
• Coordinates all aspects of the job evaluation committee process (scheduling, achieving quorum, documenting, and communicating results) for all unionized and non-unionized, non-academic positions, ensuring that the processes in place are effective and efficient. Recommends changes as necessary to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and consistency with the University of Windsor’s broader job evaluation and compensation objectives.
• Assists with the development and maintenance of compensation administration guidelines to ensure compliance with legislation, collective agreements and policies and procedures.
• Supports ongoing development of Flexible Work Program metric tracking and program evolution and makes recommendations for Program improvement based on current trends and research.
• Gathers data, as requested, to assist with the monitoring of non-union vacation utilization. Supports Labour Relations monitoring of vacation utilization within unionized groups consistent with Collective Agreement obligations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will possess:
• College Diploma or University degree in a related field (Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field) and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• 2-4 years of progressive HR experience, including experience in compensation, quantitative and qualitative analysis to support total compensation programs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of job evaluation processes, tools, and methodology.
• Successful experience in management multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment with limited resources and shifting priorities.
• Strong time management, and organization skills with a process improvement mindset.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, collective agreements, employment contracts and other technical documents.
• Honed strategic and critical thinking skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment, analyze and interpret data and present information in a clear, concise and professional manner.
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral, with the ability to handle matters requiring a high level of diplomacy, sensitivity and confidentiality.
• Demonstrated commitment for promoting and imbedding Indigenization, equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility in the delivery of strategic human resource services.
• Ability to work effectively as a cross-functional team member.
• Advanced computer software proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manipulate spreadsheets and merge Work and Excel documents and experience with HRIS applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Professional designation in compensation (CEBS) or a CHRP/CHRL designation.
• Related work experience in a public sector, post-secondary institution, and/or unionized environment.
• Practical application of job evaluation methodology with preference to experience in Korn Ferry Hay Methodology for job evaluation.

SALARY RANGE:

$77,275 – $87,812
