Youth Mental Health Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Health Services Manager

DEPARTMENT: Health Department

LOCATION: Health Centre, 322 Chippewa Road, Muncey, ON

TERM: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm EST (Evenings and weekends may be required)

Summary:

The Youth Mental Health Supervisor provides clinical and operational leadership for youth mental wellness services at Chippewas of the Thames First Nation (COTTFN). This role reports to the Health Services Manager and supervises the Youth Mental Health Worker team, ensuring programs are culturally grounded and evidence-informed, and oversees planning, delivery, and evaluation of outreach, group programming, and case coordination for youth and their families. The Supervisor aligns services with organizational policies, legislative requirements, and community priorities while fostering strong partnerships with schools, community agencies, and cultural supports.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and clinical direction to the Youth Mental Health Team, including creation of work plans, clarifying workflows, and ensuring quality, safety, and confidentiality.
  • Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate youth mental health programs (prevention, life skills, group work, outreach), using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement and reporting.
  • Embed Anishinaabe culture and traditions in programming; engage Elderes/Knowledge Kee[ers and promote culturally safe practices and positive identity development.
  • Build collaborative relationships with community services, regional partners, and schools; participate in case reviews and integrated service meetings; coordinate referrals and case conferences as needed.
  • Identify team training needs and coordinate professional development (e.g., MHFA, SafeTALK, ASIST) and share learnings and support knowledge exchange across the Health Department.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and statistics in electronic case/medical record systems; develop monthly/quarterly reports and contribute to budgets and annual service plans.
  • Promote youth programs through appropriate communication channels; support events and activities that encourage participation and reduce stigma.

Experience and Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related Social Services field (preferred).
  • Community College Diploma in Social Services may be considered.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Social Services or a related, preferably in a First Nation community.
  • Minimum of two years’ direct experience with at-risk youth.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Ojibway culture, traditions, and community-based prevention programming.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid “G” driver’s license with access to an insured vehicle ($1,000,000 liability coverage).
  • Clear CPIC and vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Proficient with MS Office and electronic case management systems.
