Position Summary

The Youth Program Manager will lead initiatives to enhance entrepreneurial, financial, and digital skills among Indigenous youth in Canada. The role involves creating and curating educational materials, fostering strategic partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders, and overseeing the management of online platforms designed to facilitate training and mentorship opportunities. The Program Manager will work closely with Indigenous communities to ensure that the programs are culturally relevant, impactful, and tailored to meet the unique needs of these communities. Additionally, the role requires a focus on aligning all activities with the broader goals and values of the organization, ensuring sustainable and meaningful outcomes for Indigenous youth.

Key Responsibilities

Entrepreneurial Skills & Business Acumen

  • Conduct assessments of current business curricula and training materials.
  • Develop and update workshop content on business topics such as planning, marketing, and financial management.
  • Collaborate with universities to design an online business training program.
  • Build and oversee an online platform for self-paced learning.
  • Supervise video production for educational modules.
  • Partner with Indigenous Financial Institutions (IFIs) to implement youth programs.

Financial Skills Development

  • Conduct assessments of existing financial literacy resources.
  • Design and adapt financial literacy workshops for Indigenous youth.
  • Distribute 2,000 financial literacy board games and develop related workshops.

Digital Skills Enhancement

  • Review and assess existing digital literacy training materials.
  • Research and curate digital tools for young entrepreneurs.
  • Forge partnerships with digital literacy organizations across Canada.

Funding & Mentorship Opportunities

  • Co-create a youth-focused grant process with input from young people.
  • Establish an Indigenous Youth Entrepreneurship Collaborative.
  • Develop an Indigenous-centered mentorship program and recruit virtual mentors.

Other Activities

  • Establish an Indigenous Youth Business Council and hold quarterly meetings.
  • Create and manage a new platform for program delivery, data collection, and reporting.

 

Experience and Qualifications

Qualifications

Education

  • This role requires a University Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Project Management, Education, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in program management, especially in educational or youth-focused initiatives.
  • Prior experience working with Indigenous communities and/or organization is preferred.

Abilities, Skills & Knowledge

  • Skilled in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Experienced in curriculum development and online learning platforms.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills.
  • PMP, PgMP, or similar certification is preferred.
