Youth Support Worker

Program/Dept:                       Native Child Welfare

Reports To:                            Family Services Supervisor

Type of Employment:           Full-time permanent

Wage:                                     $25.44 – $31.63 per hour

Hours of Work:                      37.5 hours per week

Closing Date:                         Friday, December 13, 2024              4:00 pm EST

Reporting to the Family Services Supervisor, the Youth Support Worker is an important role promoting healthy lifestyles to youth (13-18 years old) and families through development and implementation of prevention and awareness programs.  Acting as a role model, in this position you would find yourself providing counselling and programming to youth, performing administrative duties, and working collaboratively in a team environment.

Experience and Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary diploma in Child and Youth Worker or related field
  • Two years’ experience working with First Nation youth in a First Nation/Indigenous communities
  • Experience in Youth Programming and Youth Counselling
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Knowledge of various Youth resources available on and off reserve
  • Ability to integrate cultural and traditions in all youth activities
  • Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Child and Family Act
  • Computer literacy and basic technical skills for troubleshooting office equipment
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License
  • CPR First Aid or ability to obtain within probationary period
  • Acceptable recent Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
