Position: Support Worker
Hours of Work: Shift work
Pay: $22-$25/hr
Summary: The Support Worker provides culturally safe, trauma-informed support to Indigenous children and youth in care who may exhibit behavioural, emotional, or developmental challenges. Working within a holistic, community-centered framework, the worker promotes emotional regulation, healing, and respectful relationships through strength-based and culturally rooted practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with children and youth in care through consistency, compassion, and cultural awareness.
- Support youth in developing coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, and prosocial behaviours.
- Implement individualized behaviour support plans in collaboration with caregivers, social workers, clinicians, and Elders.
- Provide crisis de-escalation and stabilization in accordance with agency protocols and trauma-informed practices.
- Collaborate with families, foster homes, group homes, and other community partners to support holistic well-being.
- Participate in regular team meetings, case planning, and cultural teachings.
- Maintain daily logs, behaviour tracking, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Attend ongoing professional development and Indigenous cultural training.
- Advocate for the needs and voices of Indigenous youth within all systems of care.
- Ensure the safety and dignity of all children and youth under supervision.
