Position Title: Child Welfare Prevention Worker

Position Summary
Child Welfare Prevention Worker will work collaboratively with the on-reserve band representative and be responsible for representing and advocating for the children and youth of Munsee-Delaware Nation who are and/or at risk of involvement with the child welfare system. The Child Welfare Prevention worker will focus on delivering programs and services to assist families access prevention supports. This is a leadership role and requires full commitment, which may include being available outside ordinary business hours of work, including evenings, and weekends, and maintaining office hours.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide prevention support services to Munsee-Delaware Nation members that are involved or may become involved with CFS such as family therapy, children and Family support programs
• Responsible for assisting in the development of and maintenance of children and youth related activities, documentation, and files
• Ensuring that child welfare agencies address culture, land, and family needs of Munsee Delaware Nation children and youth involved in the child welfare system
• Collaborate with the Band Rep to participate in all service plans, plans of care or service development for Munsee-Delaware Nation members.
• Prepare reports and presentations on prevention services for the Child and Family Services Coordinator and Chief and Council as needed.
• Maintain client confidentiality to the highest degree.
• Other related duties as assigned

The Munsee-Delaware Nation is a First Nation community located in southwestern Ontario. It is home to the Munsee people, a subgroup of the Lenape (Delaware) Nation, who originally lived in the northeastern United States. Qualifications
Education and Experience:
1. Diploma for Social Services Worker and/or related field of study such as child and youth worker
2. Minimum of 2 years working in the social/legal field.
3. Minimum of 1 years working with Child Protection field/court system an asset.
4. Minimum of 2 years working with/for Native Community.
5. Must be reliable, dependable, and committed to confidentiality.
6. Must be willing to work flexible hours and travel is required.
7. Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable vehicle required, and to provide a drivers abstract.
8. Must provide a clear VSC – current within last 30 days
