Job Description

Develop communication strategies in collaboration with service delivery teams and under the guidance of the Manager of Corporate Communications.Execute on a broad range of communications products, both print and digital, in support of approved communication strategies (social media, media pitches, key message development, website content, out of home advertising, printed products, video production, etc.)Provide ongoing advice and recommendations concerning trends in website development and maintenance, content management, search optimization, and AODA compliance.Write content, develop themes, and maintain consistent brand identity for multiple audiences and platforms, including print and social media platforms to support program and organizational communications. Interact with and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, designers, photographers, and printers.Develop and regularly monitor and analyze metrics for assessing strategy success and provides regular reports and recommendations.Continuously improve the quality of service delivery to the organization by staying current with industry best practices, tools and trends, using available data to measure success and modify strategy as necessary.Contribute to a positive work environment, work collaboratively with others, recognize the strengths and contributions of others, and establish positive and constructive internal and external working relationships.Contribute to the team and organizational capacity by sharing knowledge and expertise, orienting and mentoring students and new staff, and providing operational coverage during colleagues’ absences.Engage in culturally humble ways with relevant parties with the goal of addressing social determinants of health and working together to reduce health inequity.

Experience and Qualifications

Completion of a two-year college diploma program in Marketing, Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or equivalent work experience.Two years’ previous work experience developing and implementing multi-channel communication strategies (health care or public sector preferred)Knowledge of trends in digital advertising (Google, Meta, YouTube) and marketing automation platforms (e.g. UpaKnee)Experience with desktop publishing software, Canva, Camtasia and Social Pilot and strong computer skills in the MS Office Suite.Creativity and knowledge of design principles, graphic design and branding principles with employment experience in the implementation of brand standards.Understanding of health equity issues and how accessible, culturally aware communications can help remove barriers to health for diverse communities.Knowledge of applicable industry standards and legislation and regulations, including knowledge of the AODA standards, copyright, and privacy.Strong writing, editing and proof-reading skills.Excellent facilitation, project management and prioritization skills.Excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, emotional intelligence and very strong customer service orientation.Skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse population, has knowledge of health inequities. Ability to motivate, problem-solve and demonstrate flexibility in approach to the work.
