Job Description

The Crisis Intervention Worker provides support to individuals and families in crisis, with a focus on those affected by family violence. This role includes delivering both residential and non-residential services such as basic counselling, group facilitation, advocacy, and community education. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate documentation, facilitating programs, responding to crisis calls, and actively contributing to team-based service delivery. The position also requires modeling healthy leadership, collaborating with internal and external partners, and assisting with daily operations to ensure a safe, supportive environment. Flexibility is essential, as the Oneida Family Healing Lodge operates 24/7 and requires availability for rotating shifts—including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Experience and Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • A Social Service Worker diploma is preferred; however, candidates currently enrolled in a Social Service Worker program or those with equivalent or related educational qualifications will also be considered.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience working in a shelter or social services environment—preferably with women and children facing homelessness, domestic violence, or abuse—is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of family and/or domestic violence is essential.
  • A valid Class “G” driver’s license and use of a company vehicle are required.
