Job Title: Data Entry Clerk

Position:
The Data Entry Clerk will be responsible for fulfilling all data entry functions and responsibilities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the Walpole Island First Nation philosophy, financial regulations, and mission statements.
Requirements:
• Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent required
• One (1) year of post-secondary education or equivalent in accounting is preferred.
• Experience working with or for a First Nations community is an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be Computer literate.
• Knowledge of AccPac systems preferred.
• Ability to work evenings or outside normal working hours as required.
Responsibilities:
• Maintains database by entering new and updated account information.
• Prepares source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information.
• Establishes entry priorities.
• Processes account source documents by reviewing data for deficiencies.
• Resolve deficiencies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the supervisor for resolution.
• Enters account data by inputting alphabetic and numeric information according to screen format.
• Maintains data entry requirements by following data program procedures.
• Verifies entered account data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data.
• Combines data from both systems when account information is incomplete.
• Purges files to eliminate duplication of data.
• Tests account system changes and upgrades by inputting new data.
• Secures information by completing database backups.
• Maintains operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes.
• Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
