Position: Educational Assistant Term: Permanent Full-Time Department: Standing Stone School Salary: Competitive salary rangeHours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30a.m. to 4:00p.m., 30-minutes unpaid lunch break Posting Date: August 27, 2024 Closing Date: September 9, 2024 at 4:30p.m. JOB SUMMARY: Oneida Nation of the Thames is a First Nations Settlement located near the City of London, Ontario. Standing Stone School offers FDK through Grade 6 programming for approximately 190 students.Reporting to the Principal of Standing Stone School, the Educational Assistant will provide one-on-one or group educational, socio-emotional, or mental health supports. The Educational Assistant will also assist in application of specialized environments and learning strategies for those students requiring varying levels of additional support.All assignments are based on student needs, including daily supervision schedules. Educational Assistant positions may rotate through the school to meet the needs of students in multiple groupings and in a variety of grade levels.
QUALIFICATIONS:Post-Secondary Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Social Service Worker, Educational Assistant or completion of a related diploma program.OR3 or 4-year University Degree in Child Development, Sociology, Psychology or a related discipline.Significant related work experience and/or specialized training specific to the needs of the identified student(s); i.e., sign language, applied behaviour analysis, Indigenous land-based learning strategies.Must be able to perform the essential physical duties of the position which may include toileting, lifting, transferring and personal care.
